Creating multiple forms of art work from wood, including totem poles, masks, paddles, murals, plaques, bowls, rattles, canes, talking sticks, and so much more. Ingenuity to produce unique items such as clocks and crib boards and practical pieces. Creatively accomplished to produce illusions and intricacy.
Materials & Productivity
Most wood products native to Vancouver Island and the Fraser Valley: Red cedar, yellow cedar, alder, yew, birch, maple, pine.
Operculum shells, pebbles, and other materials from the beach are farmed at Yuquot. Both authentic and imitation abalone is obtained through merchants on Vancouver Island, but carvings that include authentic abalone cannot be shipped outside of Canada.
Hair is either human or horse hair, sold by the length. Leather is made from cow hide.
